November 11, 2015

This sort of made me laugh because theres a lot of truth to this.  Many art programs don't have internship opportunities to offer their students (for no good reason) and don't really cater classes to how the "Real World" functions.  I was aware of this before I got on this boat (Sky Welkin) which is why I tried to gain some ground on this business while still in school.  Through lots of failed attempts (and to be honest i'm still failing in many aspects and there's probably more to come) I am slowly beginning to see what works and what doesn't to achieve my own definition of success.  Whether it's getting accepted into a juried show, selling some shirts, or making some sales on my upcoming children's book, I always have the same epiphany.  It takes me to make my dreams a reality.  By that I mean it takes me to make sure I have the graphics submitted to Zeke in a timely fashion, to look for art opportunities, and to drive myself to be a contributor to a culture I love and respect.         -sky
