A couple of months ago a friend of mine reached out to me and asked that I provide the art for his upcoming album. I was excited to hear he was still sticking with his craft and accepted his request. It was really a no-brainer. He had caught me at a good time creatively where I had just a LITTLE more downtown since I am in the research phase for 2021's Sky Welkin Atelier creative direction and graphics. He sent me the rough drafts of his songs and I became really excited to lend my art to a project that was shaping to be a very strong offering from the Virgina producer and emcee known as Otis Fonde (Tre Johnson).
Having somewhat of an obsession with titles and names (Nomenclature in general) I asked him during one of our phone calls, "Yo, what are you calling this project?". He gave me the green light to name it and I uttered out "TRIUMPH". It was the thread that connected every single track to one another. I was listening to someone at peace with himself while aspiring for more. He liked it and I immediately began sketches of his corvette going up a mountain side. As I would text him reference sketches for updates he made sure I kept the theme "Welkin" which is an honor as i'm still out to prove that my characters and theme is dope.
After maybe two rounds of edits, the product was finalized and before I knew it TRIUMPH was available on all platforms last Friday August 22nd. I spammed a few of my homies with the link to peep the tracks and the strong offering and now Tre and I are reveling in the accomplishment while looking for ways to push it. If you follow me on twitter or instagram then you already know i've been talking about it. If you're a fan of good music, in particular, Hip-Hop music, please check out TRIUMPH and tell a friend.
As always, thanks for reading!
