I’ve been experimenting with dye-cut wooden panels as a way to shape the narrative of what it means to be a fine art cartoonist. This piece, A World Within a Hat, is more than a painting, it’s my logo brought to life in fine art form.
Serling Curious’s face remains a black silhouette, the whites of his eyes peering out at the viewer, inviting a quiet, mutual observation. But it’s the hat that carries the heart of the story. Nestled inside it are Kumo and Lou, two WeeBees resting under trees. I wanted to portray a moment of stillness inside a world that exists entirely within Serling’s top hat.
This piece expands the lore of Sky Welkin Studios: the world lives in Serling’s hat. With that, Serling becomes even more enigmatic, more mystic. He is the gatekeeper of wonder, and this work is an invitation for viewers to step inside—into a space where curiosity has no ceiling.
My aim is to create something that feels refreshing—something that piques curiosity and lingers in the viewer’s imagination. I'm excited for this new body of work and can't wait to share it at upcoming events and shows.
