Here is my latest painting, titled “Check This Out.” I created this piece during a live rooftop painting session at Marigold in Five Points, Denver, while attending Goodness—my favorite Denver day party. It was a special moment since it was the last Goodness of the season, taking place just before Labor Day.
The energy was electric, and this painting received so much love from the community. It was my first time bringing these two new characters together on canvas. In this work, Serling is holding his signature top hat, which reveals two of my whimsical WeeBees inside. Nova gazes into the hat with a mix of wonder and amazement.
Through this painting, I wanted to capture a sense of Black joy, imagination, and fantasy. My goal, as always with Sky Welkin Studios, is to create artwork that sparks curiosity and transports viewers into a world of wonder.
