On March 28th, I had the privilege of sharing my art with a group of third graders from the local Boys & Girls Club at the Salvation Army Red Shield on High Street in Denver. I painted a mural inspired by one of my classic WeeBees comic strip illustrations—“If You Don’t See a Path, Create One”—a message I felt was especially relevant for the youth who will spend time in that classroom.
After a short talk on my creative journey and the importance of identity, we collaborated on a community mural right beside mine. Seeing the kids light up with creativity and joy was unforgettable.
These types of opportunities don’t come around often, and I’m deeply grateful to my friend RJ, who coordinated the project and brought me in as a paid artist. This moment reminded me why I do what I do—art has the power to inspire, empower, and leave lasting impact.
